The end of a year provides a convenient line of demarcation for PE sponsors to reflect on lessons from past years, as well as to prepare for the year ahead. To assist with that process, the Private Equity Law Report has surveyed an array of industry professionals; SEC enforcement actions, risk alerts and regulatory proposals; speeches by SEC officials; and other inputs to predict the trends and challenges PE sponsors may face in 2021. To that end, the Private Equity Law Report is highlighting five articles from its archives that cover issues fund managers should monitor and prepare for as 2021 begins. Among others, those articles cover the SEC’s focus on responsible investing; the propensity for sponsors to seek to continue or extend the life of their funds; the impact of the U.K.’s official exit from the E.U.; the need to handle increased LP requests for transparency; and the ascending popularity of private credit as an asset class.
